Applications for the 2023 Coulter College Program Closed on Tuesday, March 14th
This August, BMES will partner with industry to convene BMES Coulter College for a third time at Medtronic in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from August 3-6, 2023.
We are looking for dedicated teams to participate in this exciting program and invite biomedical engineering departments to submit a team application to join us for this unique learning and networking opportunity.

About
BMES Coulter College is a training program focused on the translation of biomedical innovations funded through a grant from the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation. The event will offer tailored professional development programming to design faculty participants. Additionally, the event will have several networking opportunities for both design faculty and student participants.

BMES Coulter College program will start with a tour of Medtronic and an introductory dinner, followed by two full days of programming, and end with a half day of presentations and awards.
Program Format
Mentors in key design areas will guide student teams through a dynamic and interactive process to help them better understand how innovations can meet clinical needs.
Each team will consist of a senior design faculty lead and four undergraduate BME students who will be senior-level students at the start of the Fall 2023 academic year.
Honorarium Parameters
Those selected to participate will be eligible to receive a team stipend to defray students’ travel costs. In addition, students will be provided with lodging.
Faculty will be responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses. Meals will be provided onsite for all participants.
Before You Submit
In order to be accepted into this program, faculty and student participants must agree to commit to the following:
- Attending the event for the entirety of the program from August 3-6
- Watching several brief video clips and participating in webinars over the summer
- Completing a pre-assignment (provided by BMES) in preparation for the program
Submissions
Each team application must be submitted by a BME student design faculty member currently affiliated with a university who has taught or is interested in teaching senior design.
