Wallace H. Coulter Award for Healthcare Innovation
The Wallace H. Coulter Award for Healthcare Innovation Award recognizes achievements of an individual who is integrally involved in the development of a biomedical device, diagnostic test/device or combination device drug/device in industry.
The awardee does NOT have to be a BMES member in good standing.
About
The Wallace H. Coulter Award for Healthcare Innovation is an annual event at the BMES Annual Meeting. The first award was in 2016. The annual award to the recipient is $5,000. In addition, BMES will pay all travel expenses associated with the awardee’s attendance (and spouse, if applicable) at the BMES Annual Meeting.
Preferred Criteria
The preferred criteria for selection of the recipient of the Wallace H. Coulter Keynote/Plenary Lecture Award is a letter describing an individual who is integrally involved in the development of a biomedical device, diagnostic test/device or combination device drug/device, licensed during the last five (5) years to either a company with sales over $100,000,000 or to a startup that received at least $5,000,000 in venture capital funding.
(IP license that is not a biomedical device or diagnostic test, or combination device will not be considered.)

Award and Honorarium
The recipient receives complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting, where they will present their lecture, plus a trophy and an honorarium of $5,000.
**The Awards Committee will screen all nominations, critically evaluate the nominees’ records, and submit its recommendation to the BMES Executive Committee for approval.
