The Biomedical Engineering Society has several publications to keep its members informed
of activities in the Society and developments in the biomedical engineering profession.

Announcing BMES' new international Journal for 2008:
Cellular & Molecular Bioengineering
.
A key challenge in improving human health is to understand how cellular behavior arises from molecular-level interactions. The field of Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering seeks to understand, so that we may ultimately control, the mechanical, chemical, and electrical processes of the cell. The aims of this journal are to publish experimental and theoretical studies that advance our understanding of (1) the biomechanics of cells, including their interaction with the extracellular environment, and of biomolecules, including proteins, lipids, polysaccharides, and nucleic acids; (2) the chemical thermodynamics, kinetics, and transport processes associated with biomolecular interactions and cellular processes; and (3) electrical processes that underlie cell behavior. In addition, an overarching aim is to integrate our understanding of mechanical, chemical, and electrical processes to better understand the integrated, systems nature of cellular processes.

All Society member subscribers to the Cellular & Molecular Bioengineering Journal also enjoy complimentary online access to the following journals:

  • Cardiovascular Engineering
  • Journal of Medical Systems
  • Journal of Muscle Research and Cell Motility

Annals of Biomedical Engineering.
The BMES scientific journal, Annals of Biomedical Engineering, is published monthly and presents original research in the following areas: tissue and cellular engineering and biotechnology; biomaterials and biological interfaces; biological signal processing and instrumentation; biomechanics, rheology, and molecular motion; dynamical, regulatory, and integrative biology; transport phenomena, systems analysis and electrophysiology; imaging.

All Society member subscribers to the Annals of Biomedical Engineering also enjoy complimentary online access to the following journals:

  • Cardiovascular Engineering
  • Journal of Medical Systems
  • Journal of Muscle Research and Cell Motility

BMES Bulletin. All members receive the BMES Bulletin, the Society's quarterly newsletter. The Bulletin presents bioengineering science articles, student chapter news, Society and public policy announcements, employment opportunities, and a calendar of conferences and events. It is also a forum for member opinions through editorials and letters.
